NADOHE Global Engagement Awards
(2023 nominations will be accepted starting October 2022)

The Global Engagement Award is designed to encourage global engagement among underrepresented students from diverse backgrounds (first generation, students from rural or isolated areas and students from low socio-economic) whose backgrounds  represents a broad cross-section of our society including students with disabilities, different race/ethnicity populations, religious backgrounds, LGBTQIA, and other identities. This award is for U.S. citizens only. Preference will be given to students who may not have travelled or studied abroad previously. The award may be used to support faculty led programs and /or for semester/study abroad options. Five monetary awards, of $2,000 each, will be given and the nominating individual must be an individual or institutional member of NADOHE. The criteria to be eligible for this award and the related submission material is as follows:

  • Undergradute students should be in their 2nd, 3rd, for 4th year.
  • 3.0 and above GPA is preferred.
  • A two-three page student statement along with an application describing  the anticipated educational impact or relevance of the global experience that the funds will be used to support.
  • Two letters of recommendation from a university official (staff/faculty).
  • A budget, including other possible funding sources, for the planned global engagement.
  • If selected, the student would be expected to either produce a 3 - 5 page paper after the experience, submitting this to NADOHE, write a blog while they are away,  or perform a ten-hour service commitment relative to their global experience.
  • If selected, the student would be expected to attend the NADOHE Annual Conference, if possible, and agree to be interviewed or featured in future award promotions.

*Failure to submit all required documentation and/or documentation exceeding the requirements will result in nominations being excluded for consideration.
