Annette Hay Bio
Coventry University

 

Annette currently works as a Senior Manager in the Research Services office at Coventry University.  Since joining Coventry University over 12 years ago, Annette has worked with staff, students and senior leadership across the university, towards promoting, engaging and embedding equitable and inclusive work practices and values. Annette has over 30 years of ‘proactive’ engagement and leadership, in championing equality at a local, national and international arenas.

Annette currently sits on a number of committees including, the Higher Education Race Action Group (HERAG), Coventry University’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Race Equality Group and Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Staff Network and more recently become a Director at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry. Annette has been instrumental in establishing the long term relationship between Coventry University in the UK and NADOHE, resulting in Coventry University becoming NADOHE’s first international Member.

Through her continuous activism and with the support of the university’s Senior Leadership Team, she plans to apply practical and strategic influence to future policy, practice, development and action in Higher Education Institutions in the UK and beyond. She is a passionate leader, networker, activist and collaborator with a clear vision for both her professional and personal goals.  Annette completed her BA Degree in Social Studies, at the University of Warwick and her MA in Leadership and Management at Coventry University and she is in the early stages of her part-time PhD, looking into the absences of Black staff in senior leadership and management in Higher Education.
