Arthur Dean serves as the Executive Director for Access and Inclusion at James Madison University, he has served in this role for the past eleven years. He is a member of the James Madison University’s Senior Leadership Team since 2007. The Senior Leadership Team is comprised of the President, Five Vice President, University Attorney, Assistant for Engagement and Assistant to the President. He currently has oversight of the Office of Equal Opportunity, Access and Inclusion initiatives for Campus and Community, Diversity Council Chairs and key university initiatives related to Diversity, Access and Inclusion. He has held various positions at Special Assistant for Diversity and oversaw the Centennial Scholars Program, Title IX Director, Special Assistant to the President for Diversity at James Madison University.

He serves on a variety of boards and leadership positions within the local community. He also served for four years on the National Association of Diversity Officer’s in Higher Education board. There is served as the Chapters Liaison to the board and assisted in the creation in the process to create new state and regional chapters for NADOHE. He continues to serve on the NADOHE conference planning committee. James Madison University is a founding institutional member of NADOHE. 
His previous positions at JMU included: Director of the Center Multicultural Student Services, Office of Admission, and Academic Advising and Career Development. Most recently he served as Director of the Center for Multicultural Student Services in 2005-2007. He is a product of the Fairfax County school system. He is married to Mrs. Denedriane (Harris) Dean of Hampton, Va. and together they have three lovely children, Arthur “Tre”, Dominique and Adia. If not at work he can be found engaged in a variety of community activities, reading, playing sports and spending time with his family.
